So Achilles, weakness of heel,
weakness of the brave boy
and every fig they shared
Chose to be reborn

Briseis found him
Heart in his hands
Watching Patroclus find his Achilles
in another

He keeps his heart in a jar
on her kitchen counter
Green jar, brown cork
Tightly closed
(much harder for those left behind)

Achilles would achieve Elysium
Three times
Three lifetimes
(name one hero who was happy)
Thrice without
his Patroclus

The third time, Hades would smile
and send him to the Isle of Blest
and, finally, he would find
(I would know him in death)
his Patroclus
